HPMEC to host photo exhibit

The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center will be hosting the photographic exhibit entitled The Veneto of Ernest Hemingway: Across the River into the Trees. The exhibit is comprised of a series of beautiful black and white panels. The first series will be on exhibit from June 1 through June 30, 2023. This will be in the new exhibit room on the second floor in the museum.

Local schools to participate in Summer Feeding program

Once again this year, both the Piggott and Rector School Districts are taking part in the USDA Summer Feeding program. Under the federally-funded effort, all those under the age of 18 are provided free meals at local schools. The meals are the same for all children regardless of family income, race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. No registration is required for those attending.

The Piggott High School class of 2023 held their commencement Sunday afternoon

The Piggott High School class of 2023 held their commencement Sunday afternoon, May 21, with a packed house of family, friends and fellow students. The members of the class were pre-sented with diplomas as well as many scholarships and awards. The class members entered the PHS gym to the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance” played by the Piggott High Concert Band.

Powhatan State Park to host Trial by Jury

Powhatan Historic State Park will host a Trial by Jury from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 27. Put yourself in place where history happened as you become judge, part of the jury, a lawyer, or maybe even the accused as we bring a court case from Powhatan’s history to life. No acting experience is needed, but participants should come ready to dive in. Space is limited and reservations are required. There is a registration fee of $25.
