Clay County Detention Center to re-open Monday

Sheriff Ronnie Cole reported that the Clay County Detention Center has officially been cleared to re-open the afternoon of Monday, May 22. “All inmates from Clay County that were incarcerated in the Greene County Jail will be moved back Monday evening to the local jail ”, Cole said. Operations at the jail were suspended in 2021. An open house was held Sunday, May 7 for public viewing.

PHS seniors begin new era

The Piggott High School gymnasium will be packed Sunday afternoon as a group of 52 seniors bid farewell to PHS. Commencement will start at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 15, as the graduates look forward to turning the page and starting the next chapter of their lives.

The Kinders to perform at Ford Room

Meet and Greet Brian and Terri Kinder on the third Thursday, May 18, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the back of the house event prior to the Kinder’s show at the Ford Room in Rector. With entrance at the back of the soon to be unveiled Farm Room, the Meet and Greet is an informal, tummy-filling time to visit with Brian and Terri and other Ford Room fans. The cost of admission is $20 for plenty of Mavis Smith prepared deli-ciousness and a reserved seat for the music and fun.

Clay County Cattlemen to meet

The Clay County Cattlemen’s Association regular meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. this Thursday, May 18, at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Piggott. Guest speakers will be Allison Howell, Clay County Agriculture Agent, University of Arkansas. There will be a potluck meal.
