Virtual claims clinic slated

The Little Rock VA Regional Office’s next Virtual Claims Clinic for Arkansas Veterans is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, April 27. During the upcoming Virtual Claims Clinic, veterans may speak to staff of the Little Rock VA Regional Office who are ready to assist them with specific questions regarding VA benefits claims.

Powhatan Historic State Park to host Introduction to Gardening Workshop

Powhatan Historic State Park will host an Introduction to Gardening Workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 22. Join park staff to learn different methods of gardening, how to plan a garden, and the best plants to grow near each other. Participants are encouraged to bring garden gloves. Clay County Sheriff ’s Department responds to Missouri Highway Patrol call

On Thursday, April 13, 2023 The Clay Sheriff’s Department received a call from Missouri Highway Patrol stating they had received a call from a lady that she was on the phone with her husband and that he was having trouble breathing. She stated during the conversation she lost contact with him. She reported that her husband was driving a semi-truck and trailer. The Highway Patrol stated they had an ambulance enroute to the rest area on Highway 67 north of Corning. Upon arrival the Clay County Sheriff’s Department found a subject lying beside his truck in the parking lot deceased. The Clay County Coroner was contacted and the victim’s name is being held at this time. It is reported the victim was from Puxico, Mo.
