Residents of Piggott are scheduled to vote on Tuesday, May 9 and are being asked to support the extension of the Piggott Community Hospital sales tax. The monies from this tax go into the operation of the emergency room of the hospital which saw over 6,500 patients in 2022.
The annual Rector Area Chamber of Commerce banquet is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 13 at the Rector Community Center.
The three Clay County Chambers of Commerce have partnered with Harps Food Stores to kick-off the upcoming county sesquicentennial, or 150th anniversary, in style on Friday, March 24, with a birthday bash. The event is planned to mark 150 years since the formation of Clay County, then known as Clayton County.
The Rector High School chapter of the FFA will host its annual dinner and auction beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 25. The event will be held at the Rector Community Center and all funds generated will benefit the local chapter. Organizers noted donations for the auc-tion are also still being gathered, and are appreciated.

The Lecture-Concert Series at Arkansas State University will present tenor Limmie Pulliam and pianist Mark Markham in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 16, in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Dr. Admission is free.
Historic State Park will host a cemetery cleaning workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday March 25. Join park staff to learn what you can do, and what you shouldn’t do, to care for stone and concrete monuments. Participants are encouraged to wear outdoor work clothes, and bring their own drinking water, chair, and note-taking materials. This event is free to the public.
