Piggott City Council approves hospital budget

Piggott City Council met for the first time of the new year with newly elected mayor Bradley Scheffler calling the meeting to order, all council members along with attorney Kimberly Dale were in attendance. Due to the weather situation, the guest speakers James Magee and Harry Hutchinson were moved up to be the first on agenda to allow Hutchinson to start his trip home to Jonesboro before the roads iced over.

Fine Free February being observed at local libraries

Throughout the remainder of the month, the Piggott and Rector Public Libraries will be observing “Fine Free February.” During the month of February library patrons may return late items without a fine, whether the item is just a few days late or more than a year. The only fines not included in the forgiveness are those currently on account which had already been accrued. Those wanting additional information may call the Piggott Public Library at 870-598-3666 or the Rector Public Library at 870-595-2410 during regular business hours.

4-H Tech plan workshop

The 4-H Tech Changemakers are excited to announce a workshop teaching technical skills for work and personal life. The workshop is free and open to everyone. The next workshop will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Rector Public Library located at 121 West 4th Street. The lesson will focus on phishing and other digital questions and answers. You are asked to bring your digital device (cell phone, iPad, laptop, etc.) that you would like additional help operating.
