Corn and cotton production meeting set at Rector
The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture will host the annual corn and cotton production meeting beginning at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27. The meeting will be held at the Rector Community Center, on Highway 49 in Rector.

Cross-stitch workshop set at Powhatan State Park
Powhatan Historic State Park will host a cross-stitch workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4. The cost of the workshop is $20 and reservations are required. Those taking part will learn that cross-stitching is not only the oldest form of embroidery, but also one of the easiest to learn. Participants will learn basic stitch techniques, pattern reading, and will stitch one of several historic or modern patterns of their choosing. The registration fee covers the cost of materials but participants are asked to bring a sack lunch. Cougar Kell Classic update
Rector Cougars improves to 13-2 with a 5342 win over Melbourne in the Kell Classic played at Swifton Monday night. Kameron Jones led the way with 21 followed by Cooper Rabjohn with 16 and Sam Shipley with 13.
E-waste collection planned by Piggott Chamber
The PiggottArea Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Northeast Arkansas Regional Landfill, is holding an E-waste collection beginning Wednesday, Jan. 18. The collection is planned to assist residents in the disposal of electronic waste, and other such items, and there is no charge to county residents.
