CARGILL DONATES TO RECTOR BACKPACK PROGRAM

Rector School District recently received a generous donation for their weekend backpack program from Cargill Cotton Company as part of their Cargill Cares initiative.The Cargill Cotton Company is the exclusive buyer of cotton from producers such as Graves Gin at Hargrave Corner. “Donations such as this keep our backpack program alive and make it possible to send weekly food bags home with students who can benefit from the additional support.We are so thankful to be partnering with Cargill again to help students and families in our community,” commented RES Principal Mark Manchester. Parks Cemetery accepting donations

Parks Cemetery, located 2 miles west of Rector, is in need of donations for the upkeep of the cemetery. “If you have loved ones buried at the cemetery we would appreciate your do-nation,” commented a spokesperson. Zoning ordinances among topics at Rector City Council meeting

At the May City Council Meeting held Thursday, May 8, at the Rector Community Center, a conundrum regarding zoning and trailer homes within the city arose. The Council took plenty of time to discern what was of concern to residents. As explained by several individuals, zoning ordinances are confusing and, in some cases, conflicting. Packets distributed to petitioners for requesting a variance contain language too vague to convey an absolute.

Rector School Board approves financial statement, accepts resignations

Rector School Board met in regular session on Monday, May 12, at the Administration building. After hearing from both building level principals regarding the conclusion of spring testing season, the board approved the Superintendent’s financial statement for April, 2025. The Operating Fund balance is recorded as $1,277,886.26, Building fund at $4,729,768.30 and when combined with Federal funds, cafeteria funds, the total fund assets is approved at $5,864,863.69.
