Tracer chosen Grand Marshal

“I love it,” said Bobby Tracer as he discussed his selection as Grand Marshal of the 2022 Rector Christmas Parade to be held Sunday afternoon, Dec 4, at 1:30 p.m., sponsored by the Rector Chamber of Commerce. Precious little in Bobby Tracer’s life does he not love.

Teaching kids about giving

On the quest to raising good humans, I realize that most people tend to use the holidays as a teachable time for kids. We encourage the need to do good for others who might have less than we do as we donate food, toys, money and help in our communities and beyond. We do this on overdrive in November and December because these months are within the “season of giving.” And while I wish this was more of a year-round notion; I still jump on board with my own three kids to embrace the season as a time to do for others with no expectation of gain. Many of the best ways to help others costs nothing at all, aside from some time and effort.

Less is More

Have you heard the phrase “less is more?” It is an example of a paradox, a statement that is apparently selfcontradictory requiring careful thought to determine the meaning. Originally penned by poet Robert Browning and made famous by the designer and architect Ludwig Mie’s van der Rohe, the phrase, “Less is More” came to define the ideals of modernist design and architecture.
