Black River Technical College held a dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14 at The Armory at BRTC in Piggott. The site will house career and technical certification opportunities for students in Piggott, Corning, Rector and the surrounding communities. Classes will begin in fall 2023, specifically welding and robotics automation: distribution and logistics.
Bitterly cold wind and temperatures kept the attendance down for the Second Saturday Art on the Ridge event, however quite a few bundled up and enjoyed the art and music on the square Saturday. Clay County students competed in the turkey decorating competition sponsored by First National Bank with over 100 entries on display.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has started mailing ballots for the Farm Service Agency (FSA) county committee elections to eligible farmers and ranchers across the country, To be counted, ballots must be returned to the Clay County FSA office or postmarked by Dec. 5, 2022.
Rector Chamber of Commerce annual Rector Christmas Parade is set for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4. Lineup will take place at 3rd and Main Streets. Floats, side-bysides, walking groups, riding groups are welcome. If you have Christmas spirit, you can share it in the Rector Christmas Parade.
The traditional Holiday Tour of Homes will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11. Tickets are $25 each and are limited. The 2022 tour will fea-ture the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and the homes of Roger and Suzie Morris, Joe and Tracy Cole and Mark and Tonya Smith.
Clay County Department of Human Services is now accepting applications from families for their annual Christmas assistance project. Applications will be accepted until Friday, Dec. 2, at the DHS office in Piggott or at Riverbank at 309 South Missouri Ave, Corning.
When was the last time you saw a live nativity scene? Was it when you turned the corner at Monette, coming home to Clay County? Was it at Hitt’s Chapel Church along with streams of linedup cars before they stopped their production in 2014? Or was it in the movie “Home Alone” when Kevin was hiding from the bad guys?
