The kids came home singing and swaying, telling of the fun they had at the program either at the Rector Public Library or Rector Elementary School. “It was so much fun,” they said.

Plans are complete, as the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to host their annual Christmas Fest on Saturday, Dec. 3. Activities are slated from noon to 4:30 p.m. on the square in downtown Piggott, followed by the annual Christmas Parade at 5 p.m.
The next Second Saturday Art on the Ridge event is set for Nov. 12. First National Bank will be sponsoring the turkey decorating competition and prizes will be awarded as vouchers for area businesses.
Veterans Day, November 11, recognizes and celebrates every American who donned the uniform of one of America’s Armed Services. Once celebrated as Armistice Day, the day WWI, known as The Great War, concluded hostilities between the Allied nations and Germany, Veterans Day gives non-veterans a chance to say “Thank you for your service.” In fact, the armistice went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11 is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.”
