Black River Area Development (BRAD) has announced the Summer Energy Assistance Program will close on Friday, Sept. 30. The final applications will be taken from 9 a.m. to noon, and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, Tuesday, Sept. 27, Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Friday, Sept. 30. Residents of Clay County must apply at the BRAD office in Corning, and those wanting to set up an appointment may do so by calling them at 870-3787887 or 870-202-1356.
Bradley Scheffler is a graduate of Piggott High School and has two daughters and two grandsons. Scheffler is retired from the City of Piggott after 34 years of employment and is a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Volunteers are needed to participate in this year’s Great Arkansas Cleanup from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m Saturday, Oct. 1, at Lake Charles State Park. 1982 The youth group of Piggott United Methodist Church are hoping you will join them in providing a putt-putt golf course for Piggott Home for the Golden Years. The golf will be beneficial to the residents as an aid for physical therapy; emotional uplift; entertainment and more.
Julie Davis is the daughter of the late Billie and Rosa Davis of Pollard. She is a Piggott graduate and attended Three Rivers Community College and Arkansas State University earning bachelor’s degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, a master’s in Reading Specialist, and a K-12 Fine Arts Certification. She has just started her twenty-sixth-year teaching. Julie currently teaches high school art at Holcomb R3. Julie is very excited that her daughter, Taylor Davis, has recently moved back to Piggott and is working at the Piggott Hospital.
Daniel Steen Daniel Steen is a lifelong resident of Piggott, graduating from Piggott High School and going on to get his bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University. Steen is married to Amy Johnson Steen who is also a lifelong resident of Piggott receiving her bachelor’s degree fromASU as well.
Nikki McCluskey Blue moved to Piggott in 1997 after graduating from Marmaduke. She is married to Shannon Blue and between them they have three children. Upon first moving to Piggott, Blue worked at LA Darling for nine years before going on to work for Schueck Steel and then to Nucor Steel. She left Nucor in 2014 to open a sporting good store, Blue Sky Storehouse, in Piggott and is currently the principal broker/ owner of Blue Sky Realty in
