BRAD ends Summer Energy Assistance Program

Black River Area Development (BRAD) has announced the Summer Energy Assistance Program will close on Friday, Sept. 30. The final applications will be taken from 9 a.m. to noon, and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, Tuesday, Sept. 27, Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Friday, Sept. 30. Residents of Clay County must apply at the BRAD office in Corning, and those wanting to set up an appointment may do so by calling them at 870-3787887 or 870-202-1356.

Great Arkansas Cleanup set Saturday at Lake Charles

Volunteers are needed to participate in this year’s Great Arkansas Cleanup from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m Saturday, Oct. 1, at Lake Charles State Park. Each year the Great Arkansas Cleanup welcomes partici-pants to join park staff in keeping the Natural State as beautiful as possible. Parks, Davis vie for south ward city council, Julie Davis

Julie Davis is the daughter of the late Billie and Rosa Davis of Pollard. She is a Piggott graduate and attended Three Rivers Community College and Arkansas State University earning bachelor’s degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, a master’s in Reading Specialist, and a K-12 Fine Arts Certification. She has just started her twenty-sixth-year teaching. Julie currently teaches high school art at Holcomb R3. Julie is very excited that her daughter, Taylor Davis, has recently moved back to Piggott and is working at the Piggott Hospital.

McMillon draws opposition from Blue, Nikki Blue

Nikki McCluskey Blue moved to Piggott in 1997 after graduating from Marmaduke. She is married to Shannon Blue and between them they have three children.
