The Rector Area Chamber of Commerce will host an art show featuring the work of Madison Cate May. All art will be past and present scenes from the Rector Labor Day Parade and Picnic.

Put yourself in the place where history happened at Powhatan and join the Powhatan Historic State Park for a Trial by Jury. The event will be held at the Powhatan Courthouse from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 and the registration fee is $20. During the event you will become the judge, part of the jury, a lawyer, or maybe even the accused as the park brings a court case from Powhatan’s history to life. A meal will be provided before the event and pre-registration is required as a limited number of spaces are available. Times-Democrat News Staff Piggott City Council met Thursday, Aug. 25 with a light agenda with all members present.
1982 Lisa Evers of Rector was crowned Miss Clay County at the Clay County Fair Thursday evening. First alternate was Cristie Webster of Piggott. Lee Ann Cobb of Corning was second alternate. Lesia Campbell of Corning was third alternate. Fourth alternate was Lori Scott of Rector and Dawn Whitney of Rector was fifth alternate.
The City of Greenway, and much of the surrounding communities, mourns the loss of Mayor William F. “Bill” McHaffey. McHaffey died Friday, Aug. 26, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff after a short battle with carcinoid cancer. He was 62.
