Times-Democrat New Staff On Monday, Sept 5, Labor Day, at 9 a.m.., the signal for the parade to begin will be given. The traditional sirens, horns, and flashing lights will usher in the 82nd version of Labor Day in Rector.
The new list of books to be featured in the 18th year of BRTC’s Serendipity lifelong learning project has been selected. The titles include a blend of works of fiction, non-fiction, historical fiction, and memoirs. Many of the books are new releases including several selections that have won literary awards and critical acclaim.

Answering the call of various neighbors on 6th Street, 3rd Street, Woodland Heights, and East 4th Street plus a major endeavor on Donaldson, the various teams knocked out the tasks.
The Bluegrass & Fried Chicken festival is set for Aug. 26 & 27 at the Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View, Ark. The Skillet Restaurant located onsite will serve its famous fried chicken buffet in between music shows at the park’s 1,000-seat indoor music venue, Ozark Highlands Theater. The music festival will feature an extended show on Friday night, a Saturday matinee and a Saturday evening extended show featuring the region’s biggest names in bluegrass and top touring bands.
