Mara Leveritt, true-crime author and investigative reporter speaks at Rector Public Library

Mara Leveritt, true-crime author and investigative reporter, visited the Rector Public Library on Thursday evening and discussed several of her books that are of local interest. “I am a truecrime writer, but my writing is different. I do not dwell on the crime itself with gore and guts, inflammatory incidents and incriminations about who might-have done it. My writing is about crimes – after the crime.”

Illinois couple drawn to Rector

“The park (Rector Memorial Park) looks better this year than it has in years,” commented Leland Blackshare, Director of Parks in Rector. The compliment went to Charlie Manchester, official park overseer, who quickly passed the words of encouragement to new resident Dan Thompson who had casually begun a conversation on a bench at the park pavillion with, “What are you doing?” After an explanation, Thompson said, “Need any help?” It went like gangbusters after that.
