Annual picnic held at Pollard

Despite hot and humid conditions, good crowds were the order of the day Saturday, July 9, as the 89th annual Pollard Picnic was held. Each year the event is held at the picnic grounds in Pollard, with the proceeds benefiting the continued upkeep of the New Hope Cemetery.

Reunion plans underway

Plans are underway for a reunion of all descendants and relatives of the late Newton Jasper McCoy and Arthur Collier. The event will take place from 12 noon until 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Rector Community Center. Everyone is asked to bring a dish and enjoy the fellowship. Full schedule awaits visitors at annual St. Francis Picnic

In keeping with their longstanding tradition, a full slate of pageants, food and fun is set for the annual St. Francis Picnic, being held this Saturday, July 16, to benefit the Hall and Gravel Hill cemeteries. The popular event is held the third Saturday of each July at the picnic grounds in St. Francis, with events and activities going on throughout the day. open for this year at 9:45 a.m. with the welcome address by Bro. Anthony Dowdy, pastor of St. Francis Baptist Church.
