Rector Public Library Summer Reading Program held

The Rector Public Library started this year’s Summer Reading Program “Oceans of Possibilities” on June 1 with Hometown Heroes in the Rector Downtown Park. We started things off slow this year because we weren’t sure how the turn out was going to be, but we had over 45 people come out and enjoy the kick off. Our Hometown Heroes who were in attendance included: Steve Ward who brought the Fire Truck, while Dustin Estes had the Fire & Rescue Truck. Jacob Arnett brought an ambulance courtesy of the AMMC. Police Chief Alan Haywood, Officer Shain Casebier, and Officer Brent Kopiness were our “Boys in Blue” and had a few different vehilces in attendance until 1 was called away for an emergency. We also had some craft tables set up with volunteers running them. We had a rock painting table ran by Sophia Thompson and Trystin Mihalek and some of the pieces that came off that table were amazing to see. We also had a face painting table that went over very well ran by McKenzie Champion, Lily Mihalek, and Beretta Thompson. Popsicles and water, courtsey of the police department, were handed out at a table by Holden Linam, Alexis Harmon, and Natalie Champion. We had a go between as well that helped out at all the tables. Jacklynn Crow had quite a workout running between tables.
