The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Education Center in Piggott will host its Summer 2022 Writer’s Retreat June 13 through the 17. The retreat will be held in the education center and the Hemingway barn-studio and will offer writers the opportunity to work under the direction of a professional mentor.

The annual Mary’s Chapel Cemetery meeting will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, in the conference room of the Rector Community Center. Any-one with ties to the cemetery is urged to attend and help support the cemetery.
The Rector School District is once-again taking part in the USDA Summer Feeding Program this year. Under the program, lunch and breakfast will be served at the Rector School cafeteria to anyone free of charge 18 years and younger. Rector will be offering the meals starting June 1, and running through July 29. No meals will be served the week of July 4 through 8.
Nominations are being accepted for the Piggott Schools PACE program (Program for Academic and Creative Excellence). Nomination forms may be picked up and returned to the elementary school or high school offices. Chad Garrett and Friends will headline the Senath Lions Club variety show at 7 p.m. Friday, June 10, at the Hornbeck Auditorium at Senath High School “We are still putting the show together.
Jessica Turner of Piggott is one of more than 700 students who received diplomas and were recognized as Harding University graduates for Spring 2022 during a commencement ceremony on May 7, 2022. Turner received a Master of Arts in excellence in teaching.
These Rector High School students recently were named to the honor roll for all four weeks of the 2021-2022 school year: Seventh grade: All A’s – Colton Haywood, Adam Holmes, Anna Isom, Landon Palmer, Micaela Ward and Rylee Wilburn. Seventh grade: All A’s and B’s - Briana Johnson, Ben Schimming, Anniston Scott, Camryn Snow and Bailey Vangilder.
The Clay County Cattlemen’s Association is proud to announce Carly Robinson of Rector High School as the recipient of this year’s CCCA Scholarship. She plans to attend Black River Technical College to major in Animal Science. Her goal is to obtain her degree and assist in her family cattle operation. As a student, Carly was active in FFA, softball, basketball, Math Club, Science Club and Pep Club. She is the daughter of Dawn Martin and Ward Robinson. Members of the CCA Scholarship Committee presenting the Certificate were Kenny Collier and Sherry Dills. Additional scholarship committee members are Dale Grimes, Randy Anders and Dillan Hartsfield.
1982 Mayor James Morris was informed last week by the city’s attorney, Mr. Charles Wheatley, in Washington that the City of Piggott, Ark.
