BY GAYLA JOHNSON Times-Democrat News Staff Arkansas Delta Byways President Marcel Hanzlik visited Piggott Thursday, May 7, to present an Innovation Award to Darrell and Ellen Dalton for their Christmas in the Hollow during 2020-2021. The awards were presented to those who went above and beyond to promote tourism during the pandemic.
Arkansas State University held its 2022 spring graduation ceremony Saturday morning along with conferring an honorary doctorate degree upon one of America’s great singer/ songwriters, women of letters, and historic preservationists, Rosanne Cash.

Early voting got underway Monday for the 2022 May Preferential Primary. The Clay County Clerk’s office reports at the end of Monday some 142 citizens had voted early. Piggott had 97 early voters with Corning having 45 early voters.
