Perkins named recipient of Northeast Arkansas Regional Archives Award
The Arkansas Historical Association has named Dr. Blake Perkins as the 2022 recipient of the Northeast Arkansas Regional Archives Award for exemplary archival research at its annual conference and awards banquet in Little Rock on April 22.

The United Auto Workers retirees will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, at the Grecian Steak House in Paragould.
Academic reports highlight Rector School Board meeting
Highlighting the Rector School Board meeting at the Administration Building on Monday, May 9, were the academic reports from both building level principals, Nate Henderson and Mark Manchester. High School Principal Henderson spoke to the full two-point overall improvement on the ACT Aspire testing, with seventeen students scoring 21 or above composite.
Arkansas Century Farm applications due May 31
The Arkansas Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for the 2022 Arkansas Century Farm program. This program recognizes Arkansas families who have owned and farmed the same land for at least 100 years.
Early voting underway for May election
Early voting got underway Monday for the 2022 May Preferential Primary. The Clay County Clerk’s office reports at the end of Monday some 142 citizens had voted early. Piggott had 97 early voters with Corning having 45 early voters.

SHIPLEY ATTENDS 4H SUMMIT
Sam Shipley, a junior at RHS, recently returned from his second trip to Washington D.C. after being selected as one of six Arkansas 4H members to attend the National 4H summit. Shipley was chosen to be a healthy living ambassador for 2022. He attended several workshops and commented that the experience was very educational.
