The first Saturday in April is traditionally a busy one in Piggott, as both the Piggott High School FFA Open Farm Equipment Auction and the Chamber of Commerce’s city wide yard sale are held. This year will also feature the Piggott Public Library book sale from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. located at 361 W. Main.
The City of Piggott will host a City Wide Clean Up from Monday, April 7 through Friday, April 11. All items must be placed by the road by 8 a.m. on Monday, April 7. The City will collect trash only once per street.
Run With Heart 5K honoring Debbie Baxter will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 5 at Heritage Park. Baxter died suddenly on Jan, 29 from a side-by-side accident at the age of 56. Proceeds from the event will go to the American Heart Association and St. Jude’s. You may visit the Facebook page at Run With Heart 5K for more information. Piggott is gearing up for its annual city wide yard sale set for Saturday, April 5. The Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce reminds local residents sales held that day will not be required to purchase a permit from the city. Locations will also be featured on a list, which will be available from the Chamber of Commerce. Those wanting to be added to the list or for additional information may call the chamber office in the depot building at 870-598-3167 or email at chamberpg@yahoo.com. The last day for listings is Tuesday April 1. The 50th annual Piggott FFAAuction will also be held on Saturday at the Clay County Fairgrounds.
The City of Piggott will be hosting a cornhole tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26. at the Piggott Community Center. Those interested may call 870-5982003 or email acrittenden@cityofpiggott.org. Sign-up fee is $45 per team with a 60/40 payout. A food truck will also be available during the event.

Black River Area Development Corporation has announced the winter regular assistance program will close on Monday, March 31. Applications for winter crisis assistance will con-tinue until Wednesday, April 30 or until funds are depleted.
