Powhatan State Park to host “Ghost Walks” tours

Powhatan Historic State Park will host “Ghost Walks” tours Friday, Oct. 18 and Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. each night. Park interpreters will take guests on guided tours, highlighting the many ghost sto-ries, folk tales, and legends about the park in its 200-year history. The cost for the guided tour is $6 plus tax per adult and $4 plus tax per person for children ages 12 and under. Space is limited and registration is required. 1984 Don Roeder of Piggott received the “Library Trustee of the Year Award” given by the Arkansas Library Association during their conference at the Excelsior Hotel in Little Rock. Roeder was nominated for the award by Donna Seal of the Piggott Library Board.

HPMEC to host poetry workshop

HPMEC will host a poetry workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 in the educational center. Registration fee for the workshop is $35 per person and will include lunch. Museum director Shannon Williams noted that seating is limited. For more information about the workshop or to secure a spot, contact the museum at 870-598-1637 or email Williams at shwilliams@astate.edu HPMEC is an Arkansas State University Heritage Site located at 1021 West Cherry St. in Piggott. Tours are on the hour 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday- Saturday.
