Powhatan State Park to host “Ghost Walks” tours

Powhatan Historic State Park will host “Ghost Walks” tours Friday, Oct. 18 and Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. each night. Park interpreters will take guests on guided tours, highlighting the many ghost sto-ries, folk tales, and legends about the park in its 200-year history. The cost for the guided tour is $6 plus tax per adult and $4 plus tax per person for children ages 12 and under. Space is limited and registration is required. Local conservationist accepted into Emerging Leader Program

SWCS - Clay County native and former county extension agent, Allison Howell, has served as a soil conservationist for the last year at the NRCS office in Piggott. This fall, Allison was accepted into the 2025 class of the Soil and Water Conservation Society’s (SWCS) Emerging Leaders Program. Recognized as the premier international organization for professionals shaping the future of natural resource conservation, SWCS has chosen Howell for her outstanding commitment to the science and art of conservation. She will join a group of up-and-coming leaders in conservation that are spread across several countries and disciplines.
