Piggott School Board approves 2025 fiscal year budget at special meeting

Piggott School Board met in special session on Tuesday, Sept 24 in the administration office with all members present. The board approved the recommendation of Superintendent Freddie Bowen to renew the yearly contract of Davidson Facilities Consulting LLC for $8,000 and to accept the quote from Turf Renovations in the amount of $7,850 for five loads of sand to level the baseball field.

Smokey Bear visits Rector Public Library

This past week was an exciting week at the Rector Public Library! Preschoolers from Rector and Marmaduke along with the Rector Kindergarten gathered with big smiles and bright eyes, ready to meet a very special guest— Smokey Bear! Tuesday, Sept. 24, Wednesday, Sept. 25 and Thursday, Sept. 26 the library hosted Smokey Bear and two rangers from the Arkansas Forestry Department, Mr. Bill and Mr. Chris.

Powhatan Historic State Park to host “Ghost Walks” tours

Powhatan Historic State Park will host “Ghost Walks” tours Friday, Oct. 18 and Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. each night. Park interpreters will take guests on guided tours, highlighting the many ghost stories, folk tales, and legends about the park in its 200-year history. The cost for the guided tour is $6 plus tax per adult and $4 plus tax per person for children ages 12 and under. Space is limited and registration is required.
