Personnel, finance discussed by Rector School Board

Rector School Board met on July 8 at the Administration building and addressed standard issues regarding personnel and finance. Minutes from June 10 and June 25 were approved. The special meeting on June 25 addressed a move from English teacher for Ashley Dixon to High School Counselor. Makensie Walker was hired as English teacher. Stephen Dement was hired as Groundskeeper/ Maintenance. Ryan Rogers was hired as ISS Aide. Casey Vaughn was hired as Nurse/ Aide. Minutes from the regular meeting on June 10 addressed resignations from Caleb Thomas, Bridgette Branson, Deshea McCain, Chelsea Clark and Tony Sanders. Hunter Smith and Hannah Burk were hired as high school and elementary teachers, respectively.

The seventh annual Mohawk Football Golf Tournament is set for Thursday, July 25, at the Sugar Creek Country Club and is being hosted by the Piggott Mohawk Football Boosters. Tee off is set for 9 a. m. with registration beginning at 8: 30 a. m. The event is a 18 hole four- person scramble and is limited to 18 teams. Lunch will be provided. RHS Helping Hands Foundation announces Guy and Willie Whitney Scholarship

With gratitude, RHS Helping Hands Foundation President Sherri Dills has announced, along with Secretary- Treasurer Heather Simmons, a new endowed scholarship that will honor the memory and legacy of Guy and Willie Whitney. Marvin and Jenny Whitney selected RHS Helping Hands Foundation to honor the lasting impact of Willie Whitney, a revered English teacher at Rector High School.

Summer Feeding Program continues at local schools

Once again this year, both the Piggott and Rector School Districts are taking part in the USDA Summer Feeding program. Under the federally-funded effort, all those under the age of 18 are provided free meals at local schools. The meals are the same for all children regardless of family income, race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. No registration is required for those attending.
