The Clay County Sheriff’s Department reports that a traffic stop leads to the arrest of a Paragould man On Wednesday, Oct. 1, at approximately 11:30 a.m. a Clay County Deputy was north of Pollard on Highway 139 when he attempted to make a traffic stop on a motorcycle. The subject could not get the motorcycle to go any faster than 60 mph. The deputy tried to get the driver to stop, but he continued into Missouri. About halfway to Qulin on Highway 51, the deputy tried to cut the motorcycle off on the shoulder, but it was able to get around the deputy. The deputy then tried again and was able to get the driver stopped. The deputy immediately took the driver into custody. When the deputy ran a criminal check on the subject, he learned that 61year-old Stanley Carter of Paragould had two felony warrants. Carter had a warrant out of Arkansas to revoke his parole, and a warrant out of Missouri to revoke his probation. The deputy conducted a search of Carter and found illegal items related to drugs. Carter was turned over to Butler County authorities when they arrived and transported to the Butler County Detention Center in Poplar Bluff. Clay County will request a warrant be issued for Carter for fleeing, possession of controlled substance- meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Clay County will bring Carter back when Missouri notifies Arkansas that he is ready to be picked up.
