CCSD arrest Piggott man on drug charges

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department reports that on Friday, Feb. 14, at approximately 9:22 a.m., a deputy went to 1324 County Road 461 to try and serve a felony warrant on an individual for violation of his parole. After making contact with someone at the residence, a subject ran out the back door. The deputy recognized the subject and began chasing him on foot. When the deputy caught up to the sub-ject he had to deploy his Taser to place the subject in custody. During the foot pursuit the subject had thrown a small baggy with a crystal substance on the ground. The subject, 22-year-old Jayger Harmon of Piggott was transported to the Clay County Detention Center where he was booked on possession of controlled substance I or II less than 2 gram, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and fleeing.

RHSSHOF recognizes Class of 2024 inductees

Rector High School Sports Hall of Fame recognized the Class of 2024 which was inducted during the annual Labor Day luncheon. The group received their commemorative, engraved plaques which they placed in the trophy case located in the Mezzanine of the Rector gym. Owen Mosley, treasurer of RHSSHOF read each inductee’s accomplishments in the name of RHS and presented the plaques.

CCSD makes arrest at Hargrave Corner

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department reports that on Jan. 5, 2025, at approximately 1:45 p.m. a Clay County Deputy noticed a vehicle with its emergency flashers on located on the south side of the highway across from the gin at Hargrave Corner on U.S. 49. The deputy noticed the driver slumped over the steering wheel. The deputy made contact with the driver, and was able to get him awake.
