Ingram named guest speaker at Rector Chamber Banquet

Rector Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet will be headlined by Tim Ingram, former Rector resident and Rector Class of 1986 member, currently General Manager of Nexstar, a broadcast and digital operation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Except for the brief hours at his birth in Kennett, Missouri, Ingram claims to have been a life-long resident of Rector until employment in radio and television took him on the road. His parents, the late Bob and Peggy Ingram, were integral in Rector as Bob was associated with Mitchell Funeral Home and Peggy assisted him and owned a flower shop.

CCTD holds community meeting

On Wednesday, March 26, a community meeting was held at the Piggott Diner to discuss some of the improved changes coming to the Clay County Times-Democrat. Guest speaker for the event was Jeremy Gulban, CEO of Cherry Road Media, along with Jeff Emblad, Director of Circulation and Distribution with CherryRoad Media.

Big day planned in Piggott Saturday

The first Saturday in April is traditionally a busy one in Piggott, as both the Piggott High School FFA Open Farm Equipment Auction and the Chamber of Commerce’s city wide yard sale are held. This year will also feature the Piggott Public Library book sale from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. located at 361 W. Main.

Piggott School Board denies student’s request

The Piggott School Board met in regular session on Tuesday, March 18 at 5:30 p.m. in the administration office with all board members present, First on the agenda, Superintendent Freddie Bowen did the monthly Mohawk Moments recognizing the second grade’s wax museum presentation and the FFA team which took third place at the 2025 ASUN Jonesboro Weld A Thon. Cassie Knight and her PACE students appeared before the board and spoke of their achievements for the year. The teams won a first place and third place at the Odyssey of The Minds and now are getting ready for state. Elementary teacher Carlie Vancil Cheshire was also recognized for being a Science of Reading Star Award nominee.
