On Friday, August 30, the senior high Piggott Mohawks opened their season at home with a non-conference game against the Highland Rebels. The team entered the field with American flags and the Arkansas flag in what has become Mohawk tradition at home games. The game did not go in the Mohawks favor with Highland scoring first in the matchup. Senior Will Lucas scored both of the Mohawks touchdowns and senior, Ozzy Garcia was responsible for the extra points with a successful 2 point conversion. The game ended with a score of 61-14. Highland also won the pair’s last head-to-head matchup.

The Rector High School Sports Hall of Fame is set to welcome the 2024 inductees on Saturday, Aug. 31.

The Piggott Mohawks hosted a benefit game at Parker Field inside Hunter Midkiff Memorial Stadium on Monday night in association with the Arkansas Activities Association in support of the Catastrophic Relief Fund of Arkansas.

The 1987 Clay County Central football team has been named to the Rector High School Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2024. They will be inducted at the annual RHSSHOF luncheon on Saturday, Aug.

The Piggott High School gym was the site for the Fall Mohawk Community Pep Rally on Thursday, Aug. 15 with a large crowd of parents, relatives, friends and community members as well as athletes, coaches and school personnel on hand.

Danny Ford has been named to the Rector High School Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2024. He is well known for his contributions to the community and to the community’s athletic programs.
