Cougars prevail at Marmaduke

On Monday and Tuesday evenings, Dec. 11 and Dec. 12, the road between Rector and Marmaduke was heavy with fan traffic making the short trek to the gym in Marmaduke. The Monday rivalry games pitted the junior and senior Lady Cougars and junior and senior Lady Greyhounds. Tuesday’s games found the boys teams in tight contests with plenty of heart stopping action. Rector’s girls and guys were coming off disappointing outings with Riverside at home, so these contests seemed must-wins, though early in the season.

Never have I ever….

A challenge that circulated through the party game circuit asked, “What have you seen lately that you’ve never seen before?” Well, I’ve got an answer for you, and it is a doozie. Never had I seen the Rector Cougars play football in such inclement weather.

Cougars bring home the championship

Dateline: Friday, December 1, 2023. 6:00 p.m. 5th Street, Rector, AR When Rector High School Cougar fans read the full Facebook stream about the Nov. 30 Championship game at Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium and found that, indeed, Rector Cougars were bringing home a State Championship in football, it was the focus of conversations throughout town. Accolades for players, coaches, cheerleaders, recollections of the monsoon- like rains the fans and cheerleaders experienced, smiles and pride showed on faces as they started the day.

Cougars take State in dramatic OT win

It takes character to overcome adversity, and the Rector Cougars showed tremendous “will to win” in posting a dramatic 22-16 overtime victory over Spring Hill on Thursday night in the 8Man State Football Championship at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. The Cougars were shellshocked by a couple of Spring Hill touchdowns in the first three minutes of the game to fall behind, 16-0.
