Rector baseball and softball teams were in action Tuesday afternoon, April 4, against district rival Bay Yellowjackets, both Cougar teams notching wins. The Lady Cougar softball team, behind Kaley Isom’s pitching and Audrey Shimming’s bat, got the called game win in the fifth inning, the margin of victory ten runs.
Bats cracked and pitches zinged for the Rector Cougars on Friday afternoon against the Cross County Tbirds. Clear from the first inning, the dominance on the mound from Cougar Evan Holmes counted for a string of strike-outs through the third inning. Cougar bats fired up for RBI’s and base hits Kameron Jones knocked a single through short, Evan Holmes slammed a stand-up double to left field, and Jackson Hill brought in two runs with a hit into short left field.
What began with the Lady Cougars spotting two unearned runs for Cross County ended in three critical outs, the Lady Cougars taking the win 9 – 7 with Kaley Isom going all the way at pitcher. Early in the contest, Audrey Schimming knocked two runs in with a hit down the left field line.
The Rector Cougars baseball team’s first road game of the season was quite the success beating Hillcrest 14-0. Cooper Rabjohn was the starting pitcher.
