Rector Cougars headed for State Championship
“I couldn’t watch,” said Heidi Henderson of the final 1:08 at Mountain Pine as the Rector Cougars faced fourth and forever in Red Devil territory, needing six to tie and the PAT to win. On this possession, the Cougars made it to the end zone twice, once on a complete pass and run that was called back to the spot where the receiver stepped out of bounds.

Mohawks play first game of season
The Piggott Mohawks held their first game Sat. Nov. 19 as they hosted the Marmaduke Greyhounds. Despite a valiant effort the Mohawks lost 72-57. The scorers for Piggott were Shawn-Hudson Seegraves with 26 points and 12 rebounds, Nate Brantley made eight points, next was Austin Seal with seven, Joe Carpenter had five points, Lucas Morrow, William Lucas and Cole James all scored two points.

Cougars defeat Bulldogs in first round of playoffs
Rector Cougars won the toss, the game, and the overall decent behavior award, though no trophies were awarded. What began early in the contest with a rash of yellow flags, multiple unsportsmanlike- behavior penalties, trash-talking tirades from the opposing team ended when the scoreboard clock showed fewer than two minutes to play.

Gary Adams to be honored
Former Piggott Mohawk Gary Adams will be honored on Saturday, Nov. 19 as Honorary Captain for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Adams, also a former Razorback and Philadelphia Eagle, will attend the coin toss prior to the Arkansas/Ole Miss game.


Lady Mohawks defeat Blytheville Chickasaws in opening game of season
The Lady Mohawks hosted the Blytheville Lady Chickasaws in the opening game of the season Friday night. It was an exciting game with the score being close throughout much of the game with the senior high Mohawks winning 6249. The junior high girls also won their game.
