
Mohawks fall to Bobcats in season finale

Last Friday at Palestine-Wheatley was a game that got away from the Mohawks when the Patriots scored on the first possession of the game to take a 6-0 lead. Over the rest of the half and early into the third quarter, the Mohawks had four scoring opportunities that they didn’t capitalize on that kept them from taking the lead.

As Ean Henson and Evan Holmes marched to the center of the field with the officials for the coin toss on Rector’s Homecoming night against the Midland Mustangs, the Cougars took their first win of the evening. The players won the toss and elected to defer receiving to the second half, giving Rector’s defense its first test of the night.
Lady Mohawks traveled to Harrisburg on Oct. 17 with a win that qualified them to play for state at HardingAcademy on Monday, Oct.
The Piggott Mohawk tennis team was named as 3A State Champions. Last weeks paper inadvertently stated the boys doubles team was state champions.
Piggott Mohawk senior tennis champion, Shawn-Hudson Seegraves, ended his high school tennis career winning state championship and being an integral part in the team’s state championship win this year.
The large contingent of Cougar fans that travelled to Augusta, a small town located a few miles east of Bald Knob, had plenty to cheer about on Oct. 14, a football Friday night. By the close of the contest, the crowd had bundled into jackets and sweaters to celebrate a 50 – 6 Cougar victory.
