Lady Cougars take down Lady Yellowjackets
The Junior and Senior High Lady Cougars took down both teams of Bay Lady Yellowjackets on Thursday, Jan. 23 at the Rector gym. Both teams put distance between the Lady Cougars and Lady Jackets during the initial quarters of play. The Lady Jackets mounted a surge and went on a couple of scoring runs late but the Lady Cougars prevailed in both games.

Wildlife of Arkansas student art contest open for submissions
Submissions are now open for the 2025 “Wildlife of Arkansas” student art contest. This contest is free and open to all Arkansas youth in grades K-12. This is an excellent opportunity or young artists to explore the wonder and beauty of Arkansas’ native wildlife, wildflowers and landscapes through their creativity and skill. Deadline to enter is March 31. For more information and to submit your original artwork, visit www.arwild.org/artcontest. Winning artwork selected for each grade. Art teachers are encouraged to invite their students to participate.
RHSSHOF to recognize 2024 inductees
The Rector High School Sports Hall of Fame will recognize the 2024 inductees on Friday, Friday, Feb. 7, during the Rector Cougars and EPC Warriors game.


RES holds 1500 meter race
All Rector Elementary students finished up running the 1500 meter race in Miss Hannah’s PE class on Friday, Jan. 17 for the start of their Olympic games.

Piggott festivities set for Friday
Piggott High School will mark basketball homecoming Friday, Jan. 31. This year’s homecoming court will be introduced during the annual royalty assembly, set for 2 p.m. in the PHS gym with the pep rally to follow. The royalty will also be presented at approximately 7 p.m. between the junior and senior high games as the Piggott Mohawks take on the Marmaduke Greyhounds.
