At the Ford Room inside the Rector Community Museum on Main Street in Rector, a fun and festive Valentine party is planned, featuring favorite vocalist Vicki Bishop who will present a program entirely of love songs on Feb. 16, doors opening at 6 p.m. for browsing the museum and enjoying a delicious buffet, free of charge.

Jim Miles, former Clinton barber, spoke to RHS and the Clay County Sheriff reported vandalism in St. Francis. Piggott Mayor Travis Williams signed a quilting day proclamation and the Shannon Freeman Family performed at RCM. Piggott City Council approved purchase of a fire truck and the future of the Mars Hill United Methodist historical church was in question. Rector’s Sam Shipley attended a 4-H conference in D.C. Administrator of DHS, Annette Dutka retired after 24 years of service. Piggott Heritage Car Show made a donation to the Piggott Little League and the PHS After Prom. A shooting claimed the life of Rector man Matt Hale and a lawsuit was filed against Rector School District regarding teacher Sarah Isom. Rector School Board met and accepted resignations and hears updates on skill growth of students. PES held their Special Olympics and the backpack program received a donation for David and Melissa Blackmon. Jack and Regina Crittenden of Piggott celebrated their 50th anniversary. Sports saw the Cougars and Lady Cougars advance in Regionals and the Lady Cougars ended the season in Elite Eight at State. Baseball season started with Piggott defeating Marmaduke 6-2. Lady Mohawks hosted the Lady Cougars with Rector winning 14-0. The Piggott track team competed in Pocahontas and in a friendly rival double-header Rector hosted Piggott and the teams split the wins.
