Charles Mack Manchester

Charles Mack Manchester, 76, of Rector, Ark., passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023. He was born on March 4, 1947 in Paragould, Ark., to John Hugh and Thelma Christine Manchester.

Charlie worked for several different companies throughout his lifetime. To highlight a couple, he served as a chief for the Rector Fire Department for approximately 25 years and was a supervisor for Utility Trailer for the remaining years prior to retirement. He was always found cruising through the city of Rector. However, when he did stop, he enjoyed working as a member of the Parks Commission. He assisted in painting 94 benches and 10 picnic tables at the park. Along with the repurposing, he helped plant over 70 trees in the park as well. When the Labor Day Picnic came around, he stayed up long hours to make the perfect BBQ for the residents and for visitors all around. He remained loyal to his role on the parks commission for 25 years and will always be remembered for it.

Charlie was preceded in death by his father and mother: John and Christine Manchester, and uncle: Mac Manchester.

Survivors include daughters: Lori and Cyndee Manchester and granddaughter Sydney Manchester.

The family received friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Irby-Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector, Ark. The service followed at Irby Mitchell Funeral Home with Bro. Ken Price officiating. Burial followed at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector. Bobby Tracer, William Abbott, Mark Manchester, Jason Manchester, KK Manchester, and Dan Thompson served as pallbearers. Leland Blackshare, Jared Green and David Simmons served as honorary pallbearers.

The family has asked that memorials be made to the Woodland Heights Cemetery Commission of Rector.
