Danny Brown

Danny Brown, 77, of Piggott, Ark., passed away December 12, 2023, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
He was born on May 2, 1946, in Manila, Ark., and was the son of the late Charles Edward and Bessie (Curnutt) Brown.
Danny was united in marriage to Judy Settlemoir on January 25, 1976, and she preceded him in death on January 30, 2007.
He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Cappie and Bernice.
Danny worked many years serving in law enforcement. He began working as an Arkansas State Trooper in 1969 and retired after 36 years of service. In 1972, he was named Trooper of the Year for a lifesaving event. He owned and operated Settlemoir-Brown Construction Company. Danny also began Brown’s Auto Glass business which he worked many years alongside his son. He loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He could be found at many of their activities and sporting events. He also enjoyed card parties with his friends. Danny was active in the local community. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #545 and American Legion. He was a member of the Piggott Health Care Facitilies Board since 1996, where he spent many years advocating for the Piggott Hospital.
Danny is survived by his son, Chuck Brown and wife Cindy of Leachville, Ark.; grandsons, Drake Brown and wife Jessica of Leachville, Ark. and Slade Sitz and wife Amanda of Manila, Ark.; great-grandchildren: Coleson Brown, Harrison Sitz, and Halston Sitz; special friend, Robyn Nagy of Piggott; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott with Bro. Mike Book and Bro. Danny Self officiating. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday in Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott.
Pallbearers were James Lee Magee, Drake Brown, Ronnie Cole, Slade Sitz, Jim Gearhart, and Gary Magee.
