Emma Lee Oliver

Emma Lee Oliver, 91, of Piggott, Ark., passed away November 25, 2023, at Rector Nursing and Rehab in Rector, Ark.

She was born on January 26, 1932, in Clay County, Ark., and was the daughter of the late Jake and Mayme (Jenkins) Halter.

Emma was united in marriage to Kenneth Oliver on December 1, 1948, and he preceded her in death on August 12, 2005. To this union, three children were born.

She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Paragould, Ark., on September 9, 1969.

She truly enjoyed helping others learn about her God, Jehovah, his son Jesus Christ, and the Good News of God’s Kingdom.

Emma worked at home and on the family farm. Later, she worked several years at Emerson Electric in Kennett, Mo. Then she became a LPN and worked until retirement at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Piggott. She also worked for a time, after retirement, at Rector Nursing and Rehab.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Jewel Leonard and her brother, B. J. Halter.

Emma is survived by her children, Sherrine (Paul) Simmons of Steele, Mo.; Steven (JoAnn) Oliver of Piggott, Ark., and Doretta Locascio of Kennett, Mo.; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 4 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Hwy. 49 in Paragould, Ark., with Larry Hampton officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector, Ark. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements
