Floyd Leon “Sonny” Cato, 76, of Rector, Ark., passed from the cares of this life to forever be with Jesus on Sunday January 29, 2023 at his residence. He was born on December 26, 1946, in Rector to the late Floyd and Verla Aliene Sanders Cato.

Sonny was retired from Emerson Electric and was a farmhand. He was a member of Union Home General Baptist Church and in his spare time enjoyed gardening, anything outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister: Bonnie Speer.

He is survived by his loving wife: Mary Cato of Rector; children: Sonnie Sue Cato of Rector, Floyd Leon Cato Jr. and wife Toni of Paragould, Penny Scott and husband Mike of Rector; grandchildren: Alec Scott and wife Mallory of Conway, Kade Scott and wife Madyson of Paragould; great-grandson: Clay Scott Cato of Conway; one brother: Junior Cato of Texas; along with a host of other special relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2023, at the Irby-Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 3 at the Irby-Mitchell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway.
