Gail Elton Benson, a cherished soul known for his wisdom, handiness, and loving nature, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024, in Rector, Arkansas. Born on July 4, 1943, in Greenway, Arkansas, Gail’s life was a testament to the enduring spirit of community and family.

Gail’s early years in Greenway laid the foundation for a life filled with the joys of the outdoors and the satisfaction of a hard day’s work. After completing his education, he dedicated many years of service to Southwestern Bell as a cable repair technician, a role in which he not only showcased his technical skills but also his ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gail was a man of many interests. He found solace in the quiet of fishing, the creativity of woodworking, and the freedom of horseback riding. These activities not only brought him personal fulfillment but also served as a conduit for creating lasting memories with friends and family. He was a member of the Ninth and Hafford Church of Christ in Rector and served faithfully until his health declined.

Gail’s legacy is carried on by his beloved children, Richard Benson and his wife Carlyne of Rector, Gregory Benson of Paragould, and Stanley Benson and his wife Jennifer of Rector. His memory will also be cherished by his brother, Bradley Benson of Kennett, as well as his grandchildren, Matthew and Tana Benson, and three great-grandchildren who brought immense joy and laughter into his life.

Though he was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Mabel Holifield Benson, his brothers, Shirley and Dean Benson, and his loving wife, Sandra Eulene Benson, Gail’s spirit continues to resonate through the many lives he touched. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family, but they take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his loved ones who went before him.

Visitation was held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 1 until 2:45 p.m. at the Irby-Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector. Graveside Services followed at 3 p.m. at Woodland Heights Cemetery with Minister Sean Sullivan officiating.
