Gerald Devon Burdin

Gerald Devon Burdin, 77 of Piggott, Ark., passed away November 14, 2022 at his home. He was born in Rector, Ark., to the late Estell and Mabel (Marlar) Burdin.

Gerald was a man who loved the Lord and hardly ever missed church. He believed in teaching his family this love. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his kids and grandchildren, having lots of stories to back up those fishing trips. When at home, he could be found in front of the television, watching all the old westerns. Gerald oversaw the care of the Mitchell Cemetery for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Pickelsimer) Burdin; a grandson, Kamryn Smith; siblings, Floyd Burdin, Larry Clifford Burdin, Lloyd Burdin, Lily Owens and Mickey Hasting.

He is survived by his children: Gerald Dewayne Burdin of Paragould, Teresa and Jillian Smith of Piggott, Darren & Rhonda Burdin of Piggott, Michael Burdin of Piggott; grandchildren: Carra Burdin, Doriann and Howard Hilton, Ashleigh Burdin, Jonathan and Jazzmine Smith, Anthony Smith, Dillon Smith, Jimmy Smith Jr, Brandon andAshtyn Burdin, Logan and Taylor Burdin, Matthew and Elizabeth Burdin, Kegan Burdin, Joseph and Katie Burdin, Adam Morrison, Michael Morrison and Andrew Morrison; 17 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Belote of St. Genevieve; siblings: Harold Burdin and Paulette Whitt along with many other family and friends.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Irby-Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector. The service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2022, at the funeral home. Interment was at Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway.
