Girl Scout Troop 3011 of Piggott recently traveled to Georgia to explore Savannah,Tybee Island, and Covington. Ten girls and five adults made the journey. Savannah, Ga., is the birthplace of Girl Scouts and where it all began. The group toured the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace, participated in a geocaching program at the GIRL Center, and learned about the history of Girl Scouts. On Tybee Island, the girls participated in a program at the Tybee Island Marine Science Center that included seining with a net in the ocean, and a marsh trek to learn about the ecology and wildlife of Coastal Georgia. The girls ended their trip in Covington, Ga., which is considered the Hollywood of the South. It was the filming location for the Vampire Diaries, Dukes of Hazzard, and more recently, Netflix’s Sweet Magnolias. The troop would like to thank everyone who made this trip possible, including those who donated or participated in one of their many fundraisers.
