Henry Doilous Book
Henry Doilous Book, a Master Mason in good standing of the free accepted Masonic Lodge # 71 Randolph of Pocahontas,Ark., was born on January 23, 1929. He was the seventh of 10 children born to Riley Lewis Book and Lottie Brydell (Parton) Book on April 23, 2023, at the age of 94 years and three months he entered into his eternal rest.
On March 11, 1950, he was united in marriage to his “Sugar Lump,” Mary Fay Mulherin. Shortly after they moved to Flint, Mich., where God enriched their lives with three sons and two daughters.
While there Henry and Mary both accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior and were both baptized in the Shiawassee River on June 28, 1953.
Doilous, as he was called that time, went to work at General Motors Fisher Body. Although he did not get to serve our country in the military, he did get to work on and test the tanks our military used. Another of his jobs while there was working on the railroad in what was called the Round House.
In 1963, Henry, as he was now having to use his first name for work, moved his family to a farm in Maynard, Ark. To help support his family he not only farmed but worked at one time as a lineman placing poles and lines through the Ozarks for a high line company out of San Angelo, Tex. In the late 70’s he owned and operated a restaurant and gas station in Reyno, Ark. Later he and Mary moved to Greenville, Tex. While there he worked at E-Systems where they maintained Air Force One.
After moving back to live in Piggott, Ark., he went to work at Darling Store Fixtures in Corning, Ark., where he was their first Tool and Die maker. While there he served as Chief Steward of the Local Union 2016.
In 1993, at the age of 62, he retired. But this did not mean he stopped working. He continued to work raising wild Mustangs and built a two story log home and of course he had a “honey-do” list to complete. His strong work ethic started at a very young age. At the age of seven years old he started by walking behind and guiding a team of mules to break the fields. He also helped his dad and uncles work the cotton fields.
He is survived by his sons, Henry L. Book and Teresa of Redding, Calif., and Randell Book and Kathy of Blue Ridge, Tex.; daughters, Judy Templeton of Piggott, and Regina Sawyer of Puxico, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Book of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; 30 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great grandchildren; and others “on the way.”
