This photo postcard of Les Biffle Day, taken at the 1949 Piggott Fourth of July Picnic, shows the honoree and several of the dignitaries on hand. It also gives a good look at the mass of spectators in attendance, as the city grew to well over 30,000 for the holiday. Those pictured are, from left: Arkansas Senator J. William Fulbright, Vice President of the United States Alben Barkley, Secretary of the U.S. Senate Les Biffle and Arkansas Senator John McClellan.The bust was created by sculptor Felix de Weldon,best known for having sculpted the Iwo Jima Monument in Washington.
