This photo was submitted by Jim Burris,and is an image of“The Clay County Kids”performing at the Piggott Fourth of July Picnic in the 1940s. The group was from the Crockett area, and played all the regional picnics including Pollard and Mars Hill. Included were Clarence“Wimpy”Thomas on bass, Mounty Johnson and Dean Burris (Jim’s dad) on guitar, Richard Thomas on the fiddle and Donald Burris on the mandolin.(courtesy photo)
