As noted in this week’s column, Piggott’s own Major League umpire Larry McCoy was the first to eject Billy Martin from a game after he became the manager of the Oakland A’s. Working first base at the time, he ejected Martin after he argued an earlier ball/ strike call while changing pitchers. It was Martin’s fourth game as the Oakland manager.(File photo)
