Jackie Lee “Jack” Hargrave, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024, in Jonesboro,Arkansas. Born on August 14, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Joseph Louis and Mamie Etta (Linam) Hargrave, Jack’s life was a testament to his love for his family, his work, and his unwavering faith.

Jack’s journey began in the heart of Missouri, where he was raised alongside his brothers, Steve (Sharon) Hargrave, Kenneth (Lisa) Hargrave, and the late Roy Hargrave. His life was enriched by the love of his wife, Scarlett (Jones) Hargrave, with whom he built a life filled with joy and purpose. He was blessed with a son, Richard (Monique) Hargrave, and his late daughter, Cindy Hargrave Robertson. Jack’s legacy continued to grow with his beloved grandchildren: Brandon, Chelsea, Jackie, and Arron, and his adored great-grandchildren: Layla, Drake, Mason, Baylor, Madelynn, Landry, and Wade. His extended family included his sister-in-law, Marki Hargrave, and his inlaws, Charlotte (Earl) Adams, Gerald (Catherine) Jones, and Dewayne Jones, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

For 29 years, Jack dedicated himself to the land as a farmer, nurturing the earth and providing for his family. He then transitioned to a career as a machinist at Clayton Machine Shop, where he worked for over 14 years.

Jack’s commitment to his community was evident through his service as a board member of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Hargrave Corner. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his actions and inspiring those around him.

His interests were as rich and varied as the life he led. Jack’s love for God and family was paramount, but he also found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He raised a huge garden, generously sharing its bounty with many. In his early years, Jack was an avid fisherman and duck hunter, embracing the beauty of nature. He also enjoyed searching for arrowheads, a hobby that connected him to the history of the land he so deeply cherished.

Jack’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of dedication, kindness, and faith. He leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we say farewell to Jackie Lee “Jack” Hargrave, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a soul now at peace. His journey on earth has ended, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. We take solace in knowing that Jack has found his eternal rest and that his legacy will continue to inspire for generations to come.

Visitation was held Tuesday, November 12, at the Evangelical Methodist Church at Hargrave Corner at 11 a.m. with the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Brother Fred Barker officiating. Interment was at the Woodland Heights Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House or the American Cancer Society.
