James Franklin Dalton
James Franklin Dalton, 98, of Melvindale, Michigan, passed away on November 19, 2024, at Gardens Senior Living in Carleton, Michigan. He was born on September 24, 1926, in St. Francis, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Herschel Fountain and Valerie Vivian (Vaughn) Dalton. He was the beloved husband of the late Ada Lou (Dickerson). Loving father of Sandra (Randy) Borsh.
Dear brother of Kenneth Dalton, Eva Mae (Millard) Winningham, and the late Maxine Tanner. James is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
James was a proud WWII Navy veteran where he served as a First Class Fireman. He was a charter member 63 years of the Beacon Baptist Church of Taylor, Michigan where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board for 50 years, and taught Sunday school for 22 years. He worked at General Motors for 34-1/2 years as a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker.
Funeral services were held at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home in Taylor, Michigan, on Friday, November 22, 2024, with Rev. John Reilly and Dr. Herbert Gilbert officiating. A graveside service was held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Gravel Hill Cemetery in St. Francis, Arkansas, with Pastor John Reilly officiating. Pallbearers were Todd Anthony, Matt Cole, Mike Dickerson, Daryn Hickson, Rob Hickson and Mark Tanner. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott handled the arrangements.
