Madgie“Marlene”Parton

Madgie “Marlene” Parton, 77 of Rector, passed from the cares of this life to forever be in the presence of Jesus on Tuesday February 28, 2023 at her residence. She was born on September 12, 1945 in Goobertown, Ark., to the late John and Alleen Trentham Blancett.

Marlene attended Rector First Baptist Church and in her spare time loved to travel with family and friends. Spending time with family was a big part of her life. She married Don Parton on March 14, 1981 in St. Louis and walked through the joys and sorrows of life together for the next 38 years until Don’s passing in 2019.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Don Parton; her son: Michael Whitton; brothers: Virgil, Calvin, Bob, Bill, Jerry, Johnny and Glenn.

She is survived by two daughters: Cathy Thomason and husband Kevin, and Malanie Haywood; step-daughter: Donna Kovac and husband Doug; one stepson: Keith Parton; grandchildren: Denver Book, Jamie Kovac, Doug Kovac; great-grandchildren: Cottin, Jahvid, Jevan, Tayler, Kylie and Owen; along with a host of special nieces, nephews; other relatives and special friends.

Visitation was held from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Rector. Memorial services followed at 3 p.m. with Bro. David Richey officiating.
