Mary Sue Hardin, 77, of Piggott, Ark., passed away December 4, 2023.

She was born on May 15, 1946, in Piggott, and was the daughter of the late Lester and Hallie Garner.

She was united in marriage to Joe Hardin on April 22, 1977.

Mary was very happy when she got her first job chopping cotton, but when she got a job in a factory she was really happy.

Mary loved going fishing and camping, and she really loved going to church every Sunday morning. After church she and her friend Betty would go out to lunch. A lot of times the two would call each other and stay on the phone for hours without really saying anything but knowing that each other were there. Anyone that knew Mary knew she was bullheaded; she had to be being the only girl in a big family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe in 2017 and her parents.

She is survived by her children: Linda Green of Nevada, Kenny Speer of Rector, Scott Speer and Steven Speer of Piggott, Tonya Ivy of Rosebud, Mo., Billy Hardin of Pollard and Kevin Hardin of Greenway; two brothers: Don Garner of Piggott and Doyle Garner of Pollard.

A memorial service is planned at Post Oak Cemetery in McDougal at 9 a.m. today, Wednesday, July 3. Family and friends that loved her and will miss her are welcome to attend.
