Randy Wright Lemmons

Randy Wright Lemmons, 68, passed away peacefully May 14, 2024. He was born February 2, 1956, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., to Doyle Doyne Lemmons and Virginia Mae (Wright) Lemmons.

A graduate of Pocahontas High School, Randy earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from Arkansas State University. He began his career in Helena, Ark., later moving to Piggott, where he served as District Conservationist for Clay County for over 15 years.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, his uncles James Lemmons and Nicola “Nick” Vaccari, and his aunt Barbara Brand.

Raised on a farm with his father and Uncle James, he developed a lifelong love for agriculture and community service. In Piggott, he became a respected leader, founding the peewee football program in 1992, which grew into the Mohawk Football Brotherhood. His contributions to the Piggott Parks and Recreation Committee included the design and construction of Heritage Park, the Community Center among other projects.

Randy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandy Lemmons; his children, Michael (Holly) Lemmons, Chris (Brittney) Lemmons, Randy R. (Abbey) Lemmons, and Jeremy (Kasey) Lemmons; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren with a fourth expected in June; his sister Kathy Lemmons, his brother-in-law, Doyle Smith, and his sister-in-law, Carol Bontz among many more extended family and friends.

Randy cherished the outdoors, whether coaching youth sports, spending time at the lake with his family, or making memories at his Uncle Nick’s hill farm. Known for his kindness and generosity, he always left people with a smile and sense of hope. He deeply loved his family and was immensely proud of his sons. His legacy of service and love will be remembered by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Piggott.
